Callie gets Married!

Saturday, September 22, 2018

Wedding bells are ringing! I had an amazing time this weekend being reunited with some of my favorite people! This weekend I took a road trip out to Battle Creek for a wedding. I actually was on the swim team with the bride in college! She was a young crazy freshman when I met her and she used to hang out in our rental house to get out of the dorms and pretend like she lived there. I remember her always telling crazy stories and wearing mismatched socks. Now she's a smart, polished women that runs a successful business and is, well, married.

All of the swim girls with the beautiful bride! I can't believe it's been so long since we were in school. I really miss our pool days and being a student, but I love seeing all the paths everyone has taken- starting businesses, grad school, medical school. My friends are all amazing women :)

Fall came early this year so it got EXTREMELY chilly when the sun went down. Thankfully the venue had stacks and stacks of blankets out for everyone to wrap up with. Then when the party wrapped up, the wedding party changed into sweatpants and there was a big bonfire! It was a fun time.

Bachelorette Fête at the Four Seasons

Wednesday, March 21, 2018

We had to hit the ground running! We got to our hotel, ran out to grab some lunch with a friend at a cafeteria (because real estate is at such a premium in Singapore, a lot of shopping and restaurants are in multi-story malls). No drive thrus here!

Then we all ran back home and got dressed for the Bachelorette party! It was dinner and drinks at a restaurant in the Four Seasons Singapore.

Singapore is...shall we say, a more polite place? So us American girls making the trip knew we needed to spice up the Bachelorette party! We packed a literal bachelorette party into our suitcases for the bride and patiently hauled it all the way from NYC (in my case, Detroit). Everyone was pretty surprised when we pulled out our gifts!

One gift that was not impressive to some was this giant inflatable penis we brought! (Although all of us girls loved it!) We actually took it to a fancy bar afterward and the bar refused to let us bring it in! They made us check the penis with their coat check like it was a coat, can you believe it? They gave us a ticket for it and everything!

"Excuse me, Ma'am I'm here to claim that penis over there!"

It was absolutely absurd, but it happened.

Girls Weekend | Cincinnati

Sunday, February 25, 2018

I'm learning more and more how much work it is to maintain relationships with the people we care about when we get older and get busy with our own careers and families. It's a hard truth, but when we go our separate ways and move to new cities after college/grad school, its a lot harder to keep in touch!

My girlfriends and I decided it was long overdue to get together and have a weekend in Cincinnati, where one of my friends moved after school. Even though the weather had been amazing in the week leading up to our reunion, it of course decided to snow and rain for our reunion!

We decided to escape the gloomy weather by going to the Art museum. It was a great way fill the day and spend some time together.

After our museum fun, we headed home for some afternoon naps (we aren't getting any younger), fresh makeup, and a night out on the town to see my girlfriend's Improv show. She did great! I'm so proud and impressed by her picking up an interesting new hobby.

I was trying to think of the last time I tried something new- maybe going to yoga? I guess I need to work on being as adventurous...

Dumping the Drop Ceiling

As much as I love my house, there is one major feature that I don't love- the drop ceiling!  Unfortunately it's a prominent feature ...
