Demo in the Pine Palace | Dining Room

After closing, I couldn't wait to get in and solve some of the mysteries that have plagued me during the inspection and buying process.

(For example, we haven't been able to find a hose spigot ANYWHERE? (unfortunately I forgot to ask the seller where it was). As of this date, still haven't been able to find one so it's still an unsolved mystery. )

After tearing out the astroturf carpet in the living room (You can read about that here), we moved on to one of my favorite rooms in my new house- the dining room (but lets be honest, every room in this house is my favorite or else I wouldn't have bought it!)

Growing up, my family would visit my grandparents for a couple weeks every summer. I remember sitting around their dining room on summer nights and everybody would play cards and eat and drink and laugh and tell stories until late. When I looked at this house, I could see my family gathered in this room doing the same thing.

Dining room- Before we started renovating my house!

Long term, my plans for this room are to maybe add pine to the back wall, lighten it up somehow to make more inviting, and add pine to the back wall. This trip we pulled the carpet in the room, which was a quick job.
Surprise! After we finished pulling carpet we found some old tile underneath! Unfortunately this flooring wasn't as cool as the 1950's linoleum we found in my living room! Who knows what surprises this house has in store next?

Dumping the Drop Ceiling

As much as I love my house, there is one major feature that I don't love- the drop ceiling!  Unfortunately it's a prominent feature ...
